When a pasta craving hits, this is the answer! 🍝❤️
There are some comfort foods I never want to give up, and a big bowl of spaghetti is definitely one of them. I wanted that same cozy, satisfying feeling without all the carbs, and this version does a pretty good job of making you forget you’re eating keto. 🤎
The sauce is rich, hearty, and packed with bold Italian flavor, with plenty of savory meat in every bite. Served over your favorite low-carb noodles, this keto spaghetti makes a seriously comforting meal when that pasta craving won’t go away.
Servings: 8
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp avocado oil (30 ml)
- ½ cup chopped onion (about 75 g)
- 1 celery stalk, chopped (about 40 g)
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning (about 9 g)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (3 g)
- ½ tsp crushed red pepper (about 1 g)
- ½ tsp sea salt (3 g)
- ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (about 0.5 g)
- 16 oz ground beef (454 g)
- 8 oz Italian sausage, casings removed (227 g)
- 26 oz crushed tomatoes (737 g)
- 1 tbsp powdered keto sweetener, such as Swerve confectioners or powdered erythritol (about 6 g)
- Keto noodles, for serving, such as palmini, zucchini, shirataki, or konjac noodles
Directions
- Sauté the vegetables: Heat the avocado oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and celery and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring regularly.
- Bloom the seasonings: Push the vegetables to one side of the pot. Add the Italian seasoning, salt, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper to the oil. Cook for about 30 seconds, stirring to release the flavors.
- Brown the meat: Add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Break the meat apart with a wooden spoon and cook for about 10 minutes, until browned and fully cooked.
- Simmer the sauce: Stir in the crushed tomatoes and powdered keto sweetener. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Finish: Taste and add additional salt or pepper if needed. Serve over your preferred keto noodles.
Storage
Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. For the best texture, keep the noodles and sauce separate. Reheat the sauce in a saucepan, then stir in the keto noodles just before serving.
